last thursday was our department's christmas party. it wasn't even december yet but the organisers decided to have it early so it would be inexpensive and we'll avoid the christmas rush.
we did it at the phoenix inn in twyford, near winchester. there were only 20 of us and that's including some of our hubbies/partners. tantan came with me. we each paid 10£ for a game of skittles and dinner. it was so-so. not as fun as the last time we were there (sue's leaving do). probably because most of those who came are newbies, and we haven't really taken to each other yet. dinner was served late (8:30pm) when call time was 7pm. not to mention, twyford is a long way off from southampton. it's far for most of us when it should have been set in the middle of where we most live.
nevertheless, it was still a nice night out. we got home past 11pm. i enjoyed the skittles we played. i thought there were 10 pins so i was counting the scores by looking at how many were left. tsktsk. there were only 9 pins so i was giving everybody an extra point! there were 10 of us in each team (tantan and i were on diff teams) so it got boring in the end as there were 3 balls to roll. but the 2nd game we played was more fun and exciting. it's like hit at least one pin or your out. i got booted in the 2nd round while tantan did not even get to that round *lol*.
we still have one get-together left. it will be just in our canteen on the 19th but food will be free! we'll also be having our secret santa on that day. im pretty sure, lots will be attending this one!
